What is Kite?

Kite is a blockchain specifically designed for AI agents that autonomously carry out economic transactions. The project focuses on a future in which software programs can independently offer services, perform tasks, and be paid for them.

In the current internet structure, AI services are usually dependent on centralized platforms. Kite tries to offer an alternative by building an infrastructure in which AI agents can collaborate directly with each other and execute transactions via a blockchain.

The idea behind this is often described as a machine-to-machine economy. AI agents can, for example, collect data, perform analyses, or provide services, and automatically be paid for it through the network.

How does Kite work?

In the Kite network, every AI agent receives an on-chain identity. This enables an agent to participate in the network, execute transactions, and interact with other agents or applications.

When a task is performed, an AI agent can, for example:

  • retrieving or processing data
  • Use a model to perform an analysis
  • Provide a service to a user or another agent

For these activities, agents can automatically receive payments through the network. These transactions can take place via tokens or stablecoins. With this, Kite focuses not only on AI software, but especially on the economic infrastructure behind it. The network makes it possible for AI agents to execute transactions independently, without a central party having to coordinate those payments.

The KITE token

KITE is the native token of the Kite blockchain. The token plays a role in various parts of the network.

Transaction fees (gas)
KITE is used to pay for transactions and smart contract activities on the network.

Staking and network security
Validators stake KITE to secure the network and process transactions.

Economic coordination of AI agents
Within the ecosystem, the token can be used for payments, incentives and interactions between AI agents and services.

The token thus forms the economic basis of the network.

The technology behind Kite

Kite is an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain designed for transactions between AI agents.

An important part of the network is the concept of on-chain agent identity. Each AI agent can obtain a unique identity on the blockchain, making transactions and interactions verifiable.

Additionally, the network uses mechanisms to reward contributions from AI models and data. This is described as Proof of Attributed Intelligence (PoAI). This system aims to shed light on which models, data, or agents contribute to particular outcomes.

The blockchain thus serves as a coordination layer for a network of AI services, in which economic interactions between agents are transparent and programmable.

The Kite ecosystem

The Kite ecosystem consists of various components that together form the network:

  • AI agents that provide services
  • AI modules and services built by developers
  • validators that secure the network
  • data and model providers delivering AI resources
  • applications that make use of AI agents

Benefits of Kite

  • Focused on the economy around AI agents
  • Own Layer-1 blockchain specifically for AI transactions
  • Programmable infrastructure for machine-to-machine interactions

Disadvantages of Kite

  • Concept of autonomous AI agents is still under development
  • Strongly dependent on adoption by developers and AI projects
  • Competition from other crypto-AI infrastructure projects

Who is behind Kite?

The co-founders of Kite include Chi Zhang and Scott Shi. The project focuses on building a blockchain network in which AI agents can autonomously collaborate, provide services and execute transactions within an open economy.
