Risk Disclaimer
Services by BLOX
BLOX offers you an environment designed to exchange crypto assets for cash. The crypto assets you purchase are held and managed on behalf of BLOX and for you by Stichting BLOX Custody. For these services, BLOX must hold a license under the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCAR) from the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). BLOX has applied for this license from the AFM and is currently in the process of obtaining it. Until then, you will be investing outside of AFM supervision.
However, trading cryptocurrencies carries significant risks. Therefore, only invest with funds you can afford to lose. Cryptocurrency prices can fluctuate significantly, and you could lose all or part of your investment. Prices change at any time of the day. And it sounds cliché, but past performance is no guarantee of future results.
Risks of Trading in Crypto Assets
BLOX aims to inform you as clearly and honestly as possible about the significant risks associated with trading in crypto assets. On specific pages per crypto asset, additional risks may be described where applicable. This information is based on general, objective sources, such as (approved) whitepapers of the respective crypto assets.
In addition, BLOX provides a general risk disclaimer that outlines the key risks for you. The most important risks BLOX has identified are:
Price Risk
The value of crypto assets can fluctuate heavily. Factors like market dynamics, regulation, economic events, and technological developments can influence the value. These factors make it difficult to predict the value of your investments.
Moreover, crypto assets are not covered by deposit guarantee schemes. Please note that investing in crypto involves risks; you may lose your investment.
Technology Risk
Crypto assets fully depend on specific computer technology and infrastructure, which in some cases may be very new and insufficiently tested.
Fraud Risk
Crypto assets are sometimes misused for fraudulent actions or illegal activities, such as scams, money laundering, or hacking. Be cautious with offers that seem too good to be true and always check the reliability of the parties you deal with.
The Earn yield service
If you use the Earn yield service facilitated by BLOX, we will transfer crypto assets on your behalf to Coinmerce Earn. In the event of such a transfer of your crypto assets, BLOX will perform the so-called crypto asset transfer service. BLOX has also applied for its MiCAR license for this crypto asset transfer service.
Coinmerce Earn then carries out risk management on the crypto assets you have made available to Coinmerce Earn in order to generate returns on these crypto assets. As part of these activities, your crypto assets may be lent to third parties. When lending the crypto assets you have made available to Coinmerce Earn, there is a risk that your lent crypto assets (or part thereof) will be lost if a third party is unable to repay these crypto assets or pay the promised returns.
For further explanation of these risks, BLOX refers to the risks of Earn. The return service facilitated by BLOX and performed by Coinmerce Earn is not subject to supervision by the AFM.
