Pricing Policy

Introduction

BLOX operates a platform where you can buy and sell crypto assets. BLOX holds and manages these crypto assets in principle on your behalf in Stichting BLOX Custody. If you wish to use the yield services provided by BLOX, BLOX facilitates the transfer of your crypto assets. For these services, BLOX holds a license from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). The yield service is not subject to AFM supervision.

In buying and selling crypto assets, you enter into a transaction with BLOX as counterparty. You therefore buy from and sell to BLOX. BLOX strives to offer customers the best possible service at a fair and transparent price. This document describes our pricing policy, including the fees applicable to our services.

Quoting

There isn’t a single price for crypto. Each liquidity provider has different prices for crypto. BLOX generates a reference price by using one or more liquidity providers and a price guarantee markup to offer you a good and market-conforming price.

The price that BLOX obtains from liquidity providers is adjusted by a price guarantee surcharge. The surcharge is determined per crypto asset. When determining this surcharge, various factors affecting its size are taken into account, including, among others, the volatility of the crypto asset, the depth of the order book, and the trading volume. Based on these risk factors, the surcharge ranges from 50 to 100 basis points.

Transaction fees are added to this reference price to ultimately determine your quote. These transaction fees amount to 0.25% of the quote you requested for both a Custody Account and an Earn Account.

The reference price is discounted in the quote provided. Transaction fees are charged separately upon settlement. This is clearly and transparently indicated during the transaction process, prior to your payment.

An example:

  • You want to buy BTC for € 100,-.
  • Based on the information from our carefully selected liquidity providers, we determine the current price for BTC and convert it into an amount in euros.
  • We calculate the price guarantee spread between 50 and 100 basis points and thus determine your reference price.
  • We add the transaction costs of 0.25% to determine your final quote.
  • You will receive between €98.75 and €99.25 in your vault, depending on the currently applicable price guarantee surcharge.

Earn Account

If you have chosen an Earn Account to generate returns on your crypto, you will receive the fee determined at that time. This fixed fee may change from time to time. BLOX will communicate these changes to you in a timely manner, so that you can make an informed decision about your Earn Account.

At the moment you decide to use an Earn Account, you enter into a loan agreement with Coinmerce Earn. Coinmerce Earn conducts risk management on the crypto you have provided to Coinmerce Earn to generate yield on this crypto.

You receive the agreed-upon return on the crypto you make available. This return is the fixed fee you receive and is displayed in the BLOX app and on the BLOX website. BLOX and Coinmerce Earn do not deduct any direct costs from the return agreed with you.

Coinmerce Earn itself aims to generate a higher return on the crypto you have provided to Coinmerce Earn than the return agreed upon with you. These proceeds are used, among other things, to cover Coinmerce Earn’s operational costs. If the return that Coinmerce Earn receives is higher than the return agreed upon with you, this difference is split between Coinmerce Earn and BLOX. Depending on market conditions, this can amount to up to 80 percent of the achieved annual return. In this way, BLOX and Coinmerce Earn seek to realize a return on the crypto you have provided that aligns with Coinmerce Earn’s risk management. These (implicit) costs in no way affect the return agreed upon with you, which you can find in the BLOX app and on the BLOX website.

An example:

  • You are using the Earn Account and have 1 BTC.
  • Your BTC is automatically made available to Coinmerce Earn.
  • For the BTC made available, you will receive a 1% annual return. You will receive this return regardless of what Coinmerce Earn does with the BTC borrowed from you. You will also receive it if Coinmerce Earn itself generates no return.
  • Coinmerce Earn uses the BTC you have provided to generate a return on its own.
  • Coinmerce Earn selects partners based on its risk management that pay returns to Coinmerce Earn if Coinmerce Earn makes the BTC it manages available to them.
  • Coinmerce Earn enters into an agreement with a partner for an annual yield of 3% on the BTC it makes available to the partner. This yield fluctuates and is fully dependent on market conditions.
  • Coinmerce Earn receives 3% in this example. You receive 1%. The remainder is distributed between Coinmerce Earn and BLOX.
